Client Success Stories
Here at Kintish we love a success story...especially if we have helped as part of it! After all, it doesn't matter how good we think we are, its what you think that counts.
Following is a small selection of testimonials from our clients who have been 'Kintished' and how our networking skills training has benefitted them. We like to call these 'afters'. If you have a success story that you'd like to share with us, you can do so by emailing enquiries@kintish.co.uk.
Immediate Successes
"A small group of people approx 30, with little time to actually network……..however, Both Jenny and myself had agreed not to stay together, and to network between groups individually. I personally felt completely different on entering the venue, than I normally would do. I actually believed that everyone would speak to me!! and they did!!It was especially interesting to note the 'groups', open/closed, fours/fives etc etc….the information that Will gave us really was true. I walked confidently up to open 3's and asked if I may join them…….how fab.
Amazingly, Jenny managed to agree for Ann Dennis to visit a Birmingham City Council site we have not yet attended, and also has set up for David Connor to attend a company to discuss Kiddivouchers!! Great session yesterday and even better that we were able to put it to good use today……..many thanks" I did talk to some businesses but they lead the conversation, not me so I didn’t feel like I was pushing myself on them.....Brilliant day....thanks Will" |
London Waterloo - A great place to network!"As a regular commuter through London Waterloo I know the best places to sit with good coffee and power to work for a little while before heading off to see clients or to my office. On one occasion I was packing up my laptop and finishing my coffee when I noticed the lady on the next table was also using a laptop, I suggested that she might want to ‘steal’ my seat as she could use the power etcetera, we compared laptops and also the fact that we both had two phones one for work and one for personal use. I asked her what she did and she said she worked for the NHS, I said that’s interesting I work with the NHS to helping them do various things, what was it that she did? Without going into detail she was the head of a very interesting part of the NHS, at which point I said I have a few bits of experience doing various projects that I would love to share with her over a coffee, so we immediately sat down next to each other and booked a date on the Blackberries. Networking in practice, it really works" James Potter, Basis Limited http://www.basis.co.uk/ |
Pooping My Pants"A few years ago when I first setup my business, I would be so nervous of networking (pooping my pants to be precise), I was worried that I wouldn't walk away with a piece of business (wrong objective) people wouldn't be interested in me, that no one would talk to me, that I would look sad and lonely stood on my own, infact my biggest fear was having no one to speak to. THEN I noticed what I was doing, I was playing "car crash" movies in my head...not an empowering process at all and I should should should should know better and I say "should" because I am a coach. So I decided to play a different movie as I drove to the events - an empowering one. I would visualise all the things I had done in my life I was proud of, achievements, positive things people had said about me. I noticed I started to feel happier, then I would visualise myself being really popular, that it felt like my party I was looking after everyone and anyone I saw alone. I would invite them to join my group, I would take the pressure off myself of "getting business" (which is not what networking is about at all - its about building trusting relationships) and I would think how can I help these people I like and trust rather than "what's in it for me"...what a relief, then magically now what happens? I love networking, I have 60% of my business from networking and I don't sell, and all of my suppliers are from networking. I am overwhelmed at events now as I cannot keep up with the number of people who say "can I have a few secs". I love hearing how people are getting on and I can't wait for each event (my party). My tips are :- 1/ Fill yourself with good thoughts. 2/ Visualise yourself being popular and people being interested in you. 3/ Think about how you can help the person you are speaking with. 4/ Remember this is not a "sales" activity it is a socialable one where the most you can expect from anyone that day is to progress to a cuppa coffee with them and a mutual chat about how you can BOTH help each other. 5/ BREATH in and out and stay in the moment."

The Theo Paphitis StoryThis true story is from David Freeman, Associate Partner at St James' Place Partnership: "Just wanted to thank you for having me as a guest yesterday. I expected you to be good but underestimated how good. I really feel that you have given me some great tools to aid my business development and for that I am truly grateful. Indecently, I went to that Theo Paphitis evening last night and after spotting an 'open 3' I darted over to Theo, his CEO and Neville Khan of Deloitte. I quickly realised that Theo's CEO was the man I wanted to focus on and spent a good half hour talking to him. At the end of the night I went back over to him and asked for his card. After handing me his card, he asked what it is that I do and I briefly explained but made a point of asking when is a good time to call etc etc. Maybe business will come from that, maybe not, but what I learnt yesterday is priceless and it showed last night. Thanks again Will and to your staff at Kintish" |
Emma Floyd - Department for Business Enterprise and Regluatory Reform
"Thank you for running such a thoroughly enjoyable and useful event. I had the opportunity to put some of my learning into practice last Friday and I was much more confident networking and therefore more effective. I'm sure that as I continue to practice the tips you shared with us I will no longer fear networking!"

Jasmit Bahia, Business Development Manager at West Bromwich Building Society"[The course] was very useful and I was able to put the training into immediate practice last night at the wolves game; got a good lead into a company called Tempest Computers, it’s surprisingly easy when you use Will's structure as they love talking about themselves”

Vikki Crayden-Reed of Celtic Castles Ltd"Thank you very much for organising the inspiring and enthusiastic networking course yesterday. I know that I do not speak just for myself when I say that " I left the room full of inspiration and confidence to become a more efficient networker moving forward". I have even tried it in the bank this morning, and it worked!" |
Helen Stanwell-Smith of the BBC"I attended one of your networking courses back in April. I just wanted to write to give you a little bit of follow up from the course. Thanks to your tips on networking, I have made a real effort to keep contacts made over the years at my previous employers alive. Through one of those contacts, I became aware of and was successful in applying for a position in the litigation department of the BBC. It is a great opportunity for me - and one which came about solely because of my persistance in keeping in contact with people and staying in the loop. So thanks for your advice and enthusiasm for networking - it has made a real difference to me" |
Dr Huw Jones-Jenkins, Business Development Executive, University of Nottingham
"It's not often I leave a training course feeling that what I've learnt has been very beneficial and can be immediately put into practice without having to study reams of literature. I attended a networking meeting a few hours after the training session and what you taught us did help. I know there's a lot more to learn and I'm looking forward to improving my networking skills."
