When you and I attend events please remember…

…people more often than not want to know who you are and not what you do or what your job title is. Not in the early stages of a relationship anyway. So when you meet someone new find out about them with an easy ‘ice-breaker’ question. Where have you travelled from? What made you attend this event? What is your connection to our hosts? Small talk is the foundation of any relationship so try to find something in common. People like people who are like them.

And when you do get round to the business talk avoid this trap when asked “What do you do?”
